Adult Swim’s ‘Check It Out’ to profile furries on Sunday night

Author: GreenReaper

U.S. cable channel Adult Swim is showing an episode of Check It Out! about furries, entitled ‘Animals’, to be broadcast Sunday 11:30PM CST (10:30PM MST, 12:30AM Monday EST/PST).

Interviewer ‘Dr. Steve Brule‘ leads with such incisive questions as “How come you wanna be an animal?”, “What kind of animal do you want to be?” and “How do you catch an animal?” Excited by the concept, he suggests “[turning] into some animals and see what’d happen!”

Brule (dressed in a donkey suit) was not impressed by the resulting mini-fursuit-parade, calling it “not that fun”, but “what else are you gonna do, dressed up like a dang animal?”

The furs, Amy and Tony, were recruited after the producers had difficulty finding participants. [Higgs Raccoon]

  1. Fursuiters don’t want to become an “animal” but an anthropomorphic creature.

Why furries are still involved in that kind of freak shows ?
“Hello, may we please make money off you by exploiting you and making you look like a freak show?”

Really? Have furries really not learned their lesson from past experience with the media? How do these shows keep getting furs dumb enough to participate?

Anyone who even *thinks* about going on a show like this should first visit the link above (to the cached link from the ‘furrymedia’ LJ group) and read the comments from the show’s producer. Read the repeated promises of fairness, of open-mindedness. And THEN watch the final product and compare what they promised to what they delivered in the end. Because they will say *whatever they have to say* to get some naive simpleton(s) to give them what they need. They don’t care about the after-effects. Those are *our* problem, not theirs. The most they stand to lose is a handful of viewers.

    Unbelievable.

seriously? Why do fursuiters never learn?

  8. It’s [AS]. What do you expect? It’s actually funny and in no way meant to be serious.

  9. Stop getting butthurt about it. It’s a comedy show by John C. Riley, It’s supposed to be about a retarded guy that has a news show and gets stuff confused. And he doesn’t pronounce things right. It’s actually funny. Don’t get all mad because he made furries ‘look bad’ because he didn’t. It’s stupid.

  10.  I love this show so much, more more more!
