Megaplex is about to Power Up the Retro Arcade!  How are we going to do that?  By announcing our Guest of Honor.  Megaplex is really pumped to announce CHAD KRUEGER as the Guest of Honor at Megaplex 10!

Chad Krueger has amazed and thrilled convention attendees with his famous tryptic images as well as his fun take on cartoon artwork.  These magnificant pieces of art have created bidding wars at many conventions.  Chad has not made many trips to conventions in the last few years, so we’re super excited that he’ll be appearing at Megaplex this summer.

AND….as a special treat….we’re going to really power up and level up by offering you a special Guest of Honor game credit!  If you pre-register for the convention before March 1, you will get $5 off the regular membership rate!  And of course, if you are so inclined, you can LEVEL UP to a sponsor, supersponsor, or Megasponsor if you wish to do so. Remember, we will have some perks for all membership levels this year, so think about leveling up!

It’s shaping up to be a great year….and the entire staff is hoping you can join us.

About MegaPlex

Since 2002, Florida’s furry arts and entertainment convention has brought interactive fun and performance to Central and North Florida. The latest edition of the convention, Megaplex 2010, was held on July 23-25, 2010, at the Radisson Maingate, Kissimmee, Florida.

Megaplex is a performing arts themed convention. The convention’s goal, as stated in its mission, is to “provide for our membership a celebration of interactive arts and performance, with a primary focus on anthropomorphics and fantasy”. In this regard, much of Megaplex’s programming has focused on fursuiting, puppetry, improvisation, and other types of performance. The convention has had live performances from professional a cappella groups Toxic Audio in 2003 and 2004, and 4:2:Five in 2006. Most recently in 2010, the convention featured a live concert from Matthew Ebel, a professional songwriter and recording artist. In 2005, Megaplex hosted the Potpourri of Puppets, a regional puppetry event run by the Central Florida Puppetry Guild.

Each year Megaplex holds its annual Charity Auction to benefit its official charity, which is the C.A.R.E. Foundation. Each year, C.A.R.E. sends guest speakers visit to talk about the local wildlife and abused pet sanctuary they help rescue, and they usually bring along a few of their animal friends. Past visitors have included a raccoon, opossum, alligator, and an endangered spotted Florida panther.

Past events at Megaplex have included a two-hour live performance from the Funday PawPet Show, Uncle Kage’s Story Hour, Mascot Games hosted by professional guest mascot captains, karaoke, meet and greet the Guest of Honor, a Variety Show, the Magic of Aces Wild, 2 the Ranting Gryphon, nightly dances hosted by a live DJ, and various panels from participating convention members. We hope you will be able to join us this year to check out the excitement!

We want your feedback on exactly what you want to see at the convention, and we want to get with folks who would like to run said panels and events. Megaplex is ultimately the members’ convention, so help make it the best it can be!
